This site is driven by a spectacular piece of blogging software called Wordpress. If you want to start a blog and are unsure of where to go, whom you may safely trust, I could not recommend Wordpress more highly. It’s open source, which is great. That means that not only is it free software, it is community software. Scores of people have helped develop Wordpress into the wonderful piece of work that it is, which makes a for slicker, more reliable, more flexible program (Think Firefox).

They also have one of the best, most helpful, support message boards on the web. I was having a problem when I first put Wordpress on my server, nothing that was their fault, just some bizarre behavior. I mailed the people who run my server, but they were no help. I did research on my on with similar unproductive results. I thought that I was screwed, that I would never get the problem solved, until I broke down, and posted a question on the Wordpress message boards.

A gentlemen on that board took up my case, and over the course of a day and over twenty posts back and forth, diagnosed and helped me solve my problem. All free, all because of a love for the software and a love for the Open Source community. It was easily the most pleasant tech support experience I have ever had, and I can’t thank him, or Wordpress, enough.
